Is the left losing the plot?

This article on Liberal Conspircay claims that 'Boris Johnson will kill children'.

This article at New Statesman claims that the Conservatives are racist. This was taken down for a while but has now been restored with what purports to be an 'explanation'.

This article at New Statesman claims that Cameron has borrowed a facist slogan from WW2. But then this is 'tongue-in-cheek' so it shouldn't be considered serious at all ...

Now I know that newspapers run headlines that are, how can one put it, sensationalist on occasion (even frequently), but what I do find interesting is that here we have individuals who appear to be serious commentators and journalists making statements that are really quite extreme about people they disgaree with.

We have a real problem with political discourse when individuals with a particular view refuse to accept that others may disagree with that view for perfectly rational and reasonable reasons - and resort to accusations that are palpably silly (so and so kills children or is racist or or said something that could be construed as being similar to something some fascist dictator said in WW2) rather than engage with their opponents properly.
